Besides the brown sweats I would just get brown thermals a size or 2 bigger so you can stuff it if you want then you can either paint the arms and feet onto the brown or you can just bleach. The thermals will give a more textured look then just plain sweats!

Emily’s son is oh so cute in that monkey suit! Thanks for sharing all this! Another fun idea would be to buy some sock monkey patterned fabric and make a bag or a shirt or something else too, for a kid that loves his or her sock monkey! There are a lot of those cute fabrics.

I think I would use long thermal underwear as the base, instead of sweats. I don’t know where Amy’s son lives, but in TX October is not that cold. Cool if we’re lucky. Sweats would be hot! Thermal underwear (the kind with the waffle texture) would be cooler and if you used brown craft paint and a sponge brush, you could dry brush brown over the cream texture, giving a look similar to the knitted look.

Sweet! I am sending it to my son. I think that if I use a piece of screen and a toothbrush, I could spatter paint the brown sweats to make the texture of the heather brown of the sock. I can hardly wait!
