The thermals will give a more textured look then just plain sweats!

Thanks for sharing all this! Another fun idea would be to buy some sock monkey patterned fabric and make a bag or a shirt or something else too, for a kid that loves his or her sock monkey! There are a lot of those cute fabrics.

I don’t know where Amy’s son lives, but in TX October is not that cold. Cool if we’re lucky. Sweats would be hot! Thermal underwear (the kind with the waffle texture) would be cooler and if you used brown craft paint and a sponge brush, you could dry brush brown over the cream texture, giving a look similar to the knitted look.
