One of my favorite sections in the dollar store is the kitchen and dining section! I love looking at all the dishes, plates, and mugs and dreaming about how I could transform them into something fun. I am here to announce that HERE is the fun thing that we should all be turning our dollar store dishes into! An Anthropologie-inspired teaset lamp! Mandi from Vintage Revivals has a fabulous tutorial on how to make your own custom Anthro-inspired lamp. You’ll need a few things you can’t get at the dollar store (take a trip to your hardware store for the other components), but overall this is a great way to get a designer look for less. One of the biggest investments for this project, the diamond tile drill bit, will cost about $18, but it is a one-time investment and you will be able to make multiple lamps with the drill bit.

Project Estimate:

• About 10 pieces of dishware, $10 and up or on hand
• Diamond tile drill bit, $18
• Lamp kit, about $12 (I found a Make-A-Lamp Kitat Amazon, but you can get these at your local home improvement store)
• Lamp pipe, $4

Get a Little Creative

Last year, Jen from Tatertots & Jello, Beckie from Infarrantly Creative and I filmed a web show called “Get a Little Creative” on My Craft Channel. It was such a fun project, but we all have a lot going on so we decided not to film a second season. I’m excited! The day I’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! This summer, I got together with two of my crafty friends, Jen from Tatertots & Jello, and Beckie from Infarrantly Creative to film a crafty web tv show called Get a Little Creative. The show is a crafty talk show where we interview a crafty guest and then share some great craft ideas and projects. [visit Get a Little Creative‘s website]

Well, our first show premiered yesterday! Every Tuesday, you will be able to watch a new episode. We have a lot of great topics and guests lined up!

And guess what, our first ever episode was about dollar store crafting! I had my friend and DSC contributor Care Sanchez from Obsessively Stitching come and demonstrate a project on the show.
