Sure, it might be traditional, but it doesn&#8217;t have to be boring &#8212; especially when it&#8217;s a costume made from dollar store stuff. Mandy from <strong>Sugar Bee Crafts<\/strong> agreed to come show us how to make a pillowcase-style dress ghost costume that is cute enough to wear all through the month leading up to Halloween.<\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">You can find all the supplies for this costume at the dollar store, or maybe you have what you need on hand already. If you don&#8217;t like to sew, this dress can be constructed with a hot glue gun. Just glue where the instructions say to sew!<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\">Ghost Pillowcase Dress Costume<\/h2>\n<p>by Mandy, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sugarbeecrafts.com\">Sugar Bee Crafts<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16135\" title=\"ghost-dress-costume-03\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-03-580x386.png\" alt=\"ghost dress upplies\" width=\"580\" height=\"386\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project Materials:<\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Halloween Garland (loved the shimmer of purple), $1<\/li>\n<li>a pack of black dishcloths, $1<\/li>\n<li>2 flour sack things &#8211; they&#8217;re by the kitchen towels, and there&#8217;s essentially a big square of white fabric, $2<\/li>\n<li>Sewing machine &amp; thread, on hand<\/li>\n<li>Hot glue &amp; glue sticks, on hand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Total: $4<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">How to Make It:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. Cut the flour sacks to the size you want, lay them on top of each other with right sides together, and sew up the side seams.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16136\" title=\"ghost-dress-costume-04\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-04-539x599.png\" alt=\"ghost dress costume\" width=\"539\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-04-539x599.png 539w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-04-270x300.png 270w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-04.png 648w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px\" \/><\/div>\n<p>2. Cut the half-a-&#8220;u&#8221; shape for the armholes as shown. Turn the edge and sew it down.<\/p>\n<p>3. Cut the garland into 2 pieces &#8211; one that will go all the way around the bottom of the dress for trim and one to use as a shoulder tie. Also cut eyes and a mouth from the black dishcloth.<\/p>\n<p>4. Then iron and sew down on the top of the front and back about 1 inch. \u00a0This will make a casing that the garland can pass through to tie the dress around the shoulders.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16137\" title=\"ghost-dress-costume-05\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-05-580x386.png\" alt=\"ghost dress costume\" width=\"580\" height=\"386\" \/><\/div>\n<p>To attach the face pieces and garland trim around the bottom, I just used hot glue. \u00a0Then feed the other garland piece through the casing &#8211; try on the dress and tie it in place over one shoulder. \u00a0Voila!<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-16138\" title=\"ghost-dress-costume-06\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/ghost-dress-costume-06-373x599.png\" alt=\"ghost dress costume\" width=\"373\" height=\"599\" \/><\/div>\n<p>I love this costume because it can also be everyday wear during the Halloween season. \u00a0My daughter wears it with a tank top and leggings underneath.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_jjzZ1M1Qh-A\/TEZiwH6ucgI\/AAAAAAAAWts\/2DRE3cfw1R8\/s1600\/signaturesmaller.png\" alt=\"\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p>p.s.
