Painting hearts on your nails might look difficult first but there are a few tricks that will make it look like you spent a lot of money at the salon. Read on for instructions on how to create a nail polish heart. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project Materials:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nail polish base color, on hand or $1<\/li>\n<li>Coordinating nail polish, on hand or $1<\/li>\n<li>Base and top coat nail polish, on hand or $1 each<\/li>\n<li>Toothpick, on hand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Total: FREE or $4 and up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can find an array of nail polish and manicure supplies at the dollar store. Check out my review of <a href=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/2011\/10\/dollar-store-nail-polish-vs-name-brand\/\">how dollar store nail polish compares<\/a> to brand-name polishes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About the supplies:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Any Nail Polish<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Pink, Red, White, whatever you would like.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A toothpick<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; They work the best for creating hearts<\/li>\n<li><strong>A\u00a0coordinating\u00a0polish-\u00a0<\/strong>This will be the color of the heart, make sure it will show up on the base color you choose.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A small piece of paper<\/strong>&#8211; You will need this to place the nail polish on when you create the heart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Base &amp; Top Coat-<\/strong>\u00a0Both of these polishes will help seal in the design and make it last longer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman','Bitstream Charter',Times,serif;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18776\" title=\"how-to-make-a-heart\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/how-to-make-a-heart.jpg\" alt=\"how to make a heart on finger nails\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/how-to-make-a-heart.jpg 500w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/how-to-make-a-heart-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Georgia,'Times New Roman','Bitstream Charter',Times,serif;\">Before you begin: *<\/span><strong><strong>Apply your base coat<\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0This will give the nail polish something to stick to, allowing the design to last longer and preventing chipping.*<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Apply 2 coats of your base color.<\/strong>\u00a0I used a bright\u00a0fuchsia polish\u00a0<strong>(Forever 21&#8217;s Fuchsia)<\/strong>\u00a0on my nails and \u00a0let it dry for about 3 minutes in between coats. I figured this was an appropriate color to use underneath the heart design.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Place a small dot near the tip of your nail.\u00a0<\/strong>Use the other nail polish (I used Butter London&#8217;s Teddy Girl) and put a few drops of it on a small piece of paper. Then, taking a toothpick place a small dot near the tip of your nail.This is the bottom of the heart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Place a small dot right above the other dot.\u00a0<\/strong>Use the same method as you did for step 2, just place it slightly above the last one. This will be the top &#8220;v&#8221; part of the heart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create 2 small V&#8217;s from the dots.\u00a0<\/strong>Use the toothpick to draw a small V from each dot. You are making the top and bottom part of the heart.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make the outline of the heart.<\/strong>\u00a0Start by connecting the 2 V&#8217;s by drawing a line down the middle of them, then connect the top part of the top V to the top part of the bottom V. Look at the picture above for help.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fill in your heart<\/strong>. Use the remaining polish to fix any mistakes and fill in the middle of the heart.
