I was challenged to create an already-ugly sweater from UglyChristmasSweater.com into an even more ugly creation. I couldn&#8217;t say no to the challenge! Here I am modeling the ugly sweater BEFORE I got ugly-crafty with it. Also, dig the dollar store decorations in the front yard. I know how to get ugly, y&#8217;all!<\/p>\n<p>I have to admit how happy I am that ugly Christmas sweaters are &#8220;a thing&#8221; now. I even bought an Ugly Christmas Sweater cookie decorating kit.<\/p>\n<h2>Uglify a Christmas Sweater With Dollar Store Stuff!<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-30546\" alt=\"How to Make an Ugly Christmas Sweater from dollar store stuff\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ugly-christmas-sweater-after2-449x599.jpg\" width=\"449\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ugly-christmas-sweater-after2-449x599.jpg 449w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ugly-christmas-sweater-after2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ugly-christmas-sweater-after2-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/ugly-christmas-sweater-after2.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project Materials:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A sweater, on hand<\/li>\n<li>Elf doll, $1<\/li>\n<li>Dollar store Christmas stocking, $1<\/li>\n<li>Additional embellishments, as desired<\/li>\n<li>Embroidery thread and needle (or hot glue)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Total: $2 and up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To Make:<\/p>\n<p>1. Start with a sweater (find one in your closet or at the thrift store), and add the least attractive dollar store Christmas decorations you can find.<\/p>\n<p>I used an Elf doll and a felt Christmas stocking. And I turned my sweater inside-out to give it more of a Cosby Sweater vibe.<\/p>\n<p>2. Sew or glue the objects to your sweater. I sewed mine with embroidery thread and a running stitch (so I can remove them and re-decorate my sweater every year!).<\/p>\n<p>I sewed the Elf to the stomach of the sweater because I am pregnant and my original concept was to make an elf in utero (Christmas light umbilical cord, anyone?)
