\u00a0This quick and simple to make project was inexpensive, too, thanks to $1 purchases at Dollar Tree.<\/p>\n<p>I love to decorate for Halloween, but I don&#8217;t like gory decor. \u00a0I like my Halloween decor to be a little spooky and a lot of fun. \u00a0I saw this welcome mat idea on Pinterest and immediately knew I wanted to make my own. \u00a0Here&#8217;s how I did it.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33627 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/supplies-580x337.jpg\" alt=\"supplies\" width=\"580\" height=\"337\" \/><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project estimate:<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Door Mat, $1<\/li>\n<li>Paint, on hand<\/li>\n<li>Socks, $1<\/li>\n<li>Shoes, on hand<\/li>\n<li>Glitter, on hand<\/li>\n<li>Decoupage medium, on hand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><b>Total: $2<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33629 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes-580x580.jpg\" alt=\"glitter shoes\" width=\"580\" height=\"580\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes-580x580.jpg 580w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/glitter-shoes.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Step one: \u00a0Paint the shoes with a thin layer of Decoupage, and sprinkle glitter on top. \u00a0Once it has dried, seal with a light coat of Decoupage.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Step two: \u00a0Paint the word &#8220;welcome&#8221; on the mat. \u00a0I wrote the word in chalk first and then painted over it in purple. \u00a0Finally, I outlined it with green.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33628 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/stuffed-sock-580x221.jpg\" alt=\"stuffed sock\" width=\"580\" height=\"221\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Step three: \u00a0Stuff the socks with the filler of your choice. \u00a0I used Poly-Fil polyester filling.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33632 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/witch-welcome-mat-580x442.jpg\" alt=\"witch welcome mat\" width=\"580\" height=\"442\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Step four: \u00a0Place the socks inside the shoes, and hot glue the top of the sock under the mat.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-33631 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/diy-halloween-mat-405x599.jpg\" alt=\"diy halloween mat\" width=\"405\" height=\"599\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/diy-halloween-mat-405x599.jpg 405w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/diy-halloween-mat-203x300.jpg 203w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/diy-halloween-mat-768x1136.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dollarstorecrafts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/diy-halloween-mat.jpg 1385w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 405px) 100vw, 405px\" \/><\/div>\n<div>Place the mat near your door of choice and enjoy your visitor&#8217;s reaction as they have to step over the witch&#8217;s legs to walk in your door. \u00a0My kids think this mat is HILARIOUS and it makes them giggle every time they see it. \u00a0If you don&#8217;t want\u00a0feet getting in the way of your door, you can simply push a dowel rod into the sock stuffing, and place\u00a0the witch in a plant, instead!
